April 9th: Capital Campaign "Own the Building" Community Launch

The capital campaign will be launched at a gala event being held Friday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. Music, refreshments and informative forums on how we aim to "Own the Building," as well as a look at some of the exciting plans the Property Committee has been working on, will round out the evening. Word also has it that something off-the-wall is being planned by some talented men in the school. A surprise you won't want to miss!

The fundraising goal of our capital campaign is $500,000 over three years. After months of research and consultation with professional fundraisers we have developed a four-fold campaign approach: soliciting contacts and contributions from the Mulberry community; approaching philanthropic contacts; applying for grants; hosting fundraising events.

The objective of Phase 1 of our Capital Campaign objective is to raise $150,000 in our first year. We are very fortunate that this money will be matched, dollar for dollar, by our lead donor, Sandy Sellers. In this way our concentrated efforts will be maximized, providing us with $300,000 to go towards the long-term capital campaign target of $500,000.

We are grateful to have the support and advice from professional fundraiser Peter Blaney. Mr. Blaney has experience with multi-million dollar campaigns for Queen’s University, and is committed to a classical approach to raising money, which means that it is through building contacts and working the social networks of our community that we will reach our target. He has confidence that we have all the major ingredients in place to run a successful campaign. As a businessman and resident in the neighborhood, he feels it a responsibility and a pleasure to support initiatives such as ours.
